Teacher is one success key in education, because teacher directly gets involved in teaching learning process (TLP). For English class, many schools and English courses choose native speaker teachers to teach their students. Most people believe that in teaching English, native speaker teachers are better than any non-native speaker teacher. Their language competence is said to be the guarantee of successful TLP. This paper invites the readers to know this phenomenon deeper whether a native speaker teacher really a better English teacher than a non-native speaker teacher. This paper discusses understanding students’ need, ideal English teacher, and the implication for language teacher education programs.
