Design of Realistic-Mathematic Education (RME) in Enhancing Primary Students’Creativity

Abstract


Current development of information technology and natural resource limitations requires a creative person. Creativity is the main goal of learning in the  National Curriculum (2013). Classroom learning needs to be designed in such a way as to elicit students' creative ideas. Primary students need to be equipped with the ability to solve open-ended problems because of those abilities that trigger creativity.

One of the teaching and learning approach is using Realitics Mathematics Education (RME). It has principles and characteristics that are closely related to the effort to encourage student creativity. Student creativity can be assessed by reviewing fluency, flexibility, and novelty in solving contextual problems.

In this article, we describes the design of learning based on RME approach to enhance primary students’ creativity and how are assessment strategy used.
