INTERVENSI DUKUNGAN KOPING KELUARGA UNTUK CAREGIVER INFORMAL YANG MERAWAT ANGGOTA KELUARGA DENGAN PENYAKIT KRONIS

Abstract


Keluarga yang merawat anggota dengan penyakit kronis sering mengalami beban fisik dan psikologis dikarenakan tidak mengetahui dan memiliki keterampilan tentang regulasi emosi dan strategi koping yang tepat saat memberikan perawatan. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberikan intervensi bagi caregiver informal yang merawat anggota keluarga dengan penyakit kronis. Intervensi dilakukan dengan mengaplikasikan konseling kelompok. Sembilan orang caregiver berpartisipasi dalam intervensi ini yang kemudian dikumpulkan dalam satu forum. Caregiver diberi kesempatan untuk mengekspresikan keluh kesahnya dan diberikan umpan balik secara terapeutik dari tim pengabdi tentang bagaimana keterampilan regulasi emosi dan strategi koping adaptif. Hasil pengabdian memunculkan empat luaran kesehatan bagi caregiver, yaitu: 1) Caregiver merasa pengetahuannya meningkat tentang regulasi emosi dan strategi koping adaptif; 2) Caregiver merasa tersadarkan bahwa diluar sana banyak yang lebih menderita; 3) Caregiver merasa lebih termotivasi; 4) Caregiver merasa didukung secara emosional dan didengarkan keluh kesahnya. Intervensi ini menjadi sangat penting untuk dilakukan secara berkelanjutan oleh penyedia layanan keperawatan keluarga, sebab masih jarang adanya intervensi yang berfokus pada caregiver. Dengan menyediakan intervensi khusus bagi caregiver, maka kualitas hidup caregiver dapat terjaga dengan baik yang kemudian berdampak pada status kesehatan anggota keluarga yang sakit kronis.
