Transformation leadership is a one of the models in leadership that familiar used in the organization. This study aims to explore the advantages and challenges of transformational school leadership in Islamic boarding school. Leadership in boarding school is very important to make the school good progress. In transformational leadership there are four component: Idealized influence, intellectual stimulation, inspirational motivation, and individualized consideration. This research use literature review analyzed method published English article that show the advantage and the challenges of transformational leadership. The finding of this paper that the advantages transformational leadership are developing teacher capability, idealized behavior, individual life experiences, increased the Islamic boarding school and inspire a shared vision. And the challenges of transformational school leadership are: change the system from charismatic to system regulation.
