Abstract

This study will discuss the historical role of the school establishment in building the character of tolerance of students. Each story of the founding of the school has an interesting story to immortalize. Both orally and in writing. And each of these stories has values that become the basis for the residents of the school to always maintain the sustainability of the school. The values contained in this story are expected to be incorporated into school policies, school curricula, classroom learning, even as members of the school interact and communicate with each other. This value becomes a character for all members of the school. For example, the character of tolerance is important to Indonesian students. Because Indonesia has a diversity of ethnicities, cultures and religions. So the character of tolerance is expected to be the glue for its citizens.
