LEARNERS’ DIFFERENT ABILITY BASED ON THEIR STRATEGY USED IN WRITING

Abstract


Writing is a complex process that has need of brainstorming, planning, outlining, organizing, drafting, and revising. Likewise, studies writing are kind of creative thinking because writing is a great challenge whether in performance mother tongue or second foreign language. In addition, strategies are important and required to acquire and overcome the students’ difficulties in writing. Furthermore, the selection of strategies is substantial because it influences and enhances students’ ability in writing.  In fact, writing as a compulsory subject in University. The learners must be passing on writing subject to continue the next level of writing. This paper examines the students’ strategies preference used, the students’ ability in writing; students’ strategies tend to give a high score. A sample consisting 38 students selected randomly. The strategy inventory language learning (SILL) questionnaire analyzed students’ strategies. Rubric from Brown and Bailey used to analyze students’ ability in writing. Mean and standard deviation analyzed the students’ strategies tend to give a high score. The overall showed that learning strategies helped students’ to improve their writing ability.
