Abstract

Preliminary research found that each students on the groups discussion remained have not understand when teacher asked them about what kind of logarithmic that should they used to solve the problem of exponential and logarithmic material subject. Moreover, when students are asked to open their course’s noted, most of them did not have that course’s note and they prefer borrow from their friends. It is necessary to teacher to understand the earlier students’ competency when teacher to teach about the subject course that need the concept learning.

This research is a descriptive research whit combine quantitative and qualitative approach. The subject of this research is the students of class x senior high school who study the matrix material. Data collection techniques in qualitative research consist of observation, interview, documentation, and combined / triangulation. Data analysis method in this research is quantitative data analysis on students’ achievement which includes the result of concept mapping sheet and final cycle test score.

The results of data analysis on the percentage of students learning outcomes on the matrix material on the of first’s retest and posted are 60% and 73% respectively. 13% increase in learning outcomes. The result of the second test of the percentage of learning outcomes of learners is 86.7%. This is in accordance with the expected research success criteria, which is more than 75%, hence it can be concluded that learning STAD (Students Teams Achievement Division) with concept mapping techniques can improve the student’s learning achievement.
