Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan siswa dalam menafsirkan konsep matematis siswa kelas XI pada materi matriks. Dalam melaksanakan analisis ini, langkah yang dilakukan peneliti yaitu menganalisis kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis kepada siswa dengan memerintahkan siswa untuk menafsirkan definisi dari matriks sesuai pemahaman mereka atau tanpa melihat referensi manapun. Kemudian ditunjang dengan wawancara sebagai pendukung hasil analisis. Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah peserta didik dari beberapa siswa kelas XI yang berada di lingkungan sekitar tempat tinggal peneliti. Penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif karena data yang dianalisis adalah data kualitatif yang berisi informasi pemahaman definisi matriks yang dikerjakan oleh siswa. Metode pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah metode tes berupa soal uraian sebanyak 1 item soal dan wawancara untuk memastikan adanya ketidakpahaman konsep yang dialami siswa.Berdasarkan hasil analisis yang diperoleh, kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa sebelum dan sesudah melihat referensi atau telah dijelaskan oleh peneliti sedikit ada perubahan atau perbedaan. Dari ke 5 siswa, 1 siswa yang menjawab tes dengan benar, 2 anak yang menjawab kurang tepat, 2 anak yang menjawab salah.Kata  Kunci : analisis kemampuan, pemahaman konsep matematis, materi matriks.

This study aims to analyze the ability of students to interpret the mathematical concepts of class XI students on the matrix material. In carrying out this analysis, the steps taken by the researcher were to analyze the ability of students to understand mathematical concepts by instructing students to interpret the definition of the matrix according to their understanding or without looking at any references. Then supported by interviews to support the results of the analysis. The subjects in this study were students from several class XI students who were in the neighborhood where the researchers lived. This research is qualitative because the data analyzed is qualitative data which contains information on understanding the definition of the matrix done by the students. The data collection method in this study was a test method in the form of 1 item description questions and interviews to ensure that students had misunderstanding of concepts. Based on the results of the analysis obtained, the students' ability to understand mathematical concepts before and after seeing references or those explained by the researcher had little change or difference. Of the 5 students, 1 student answered the test correctly, 2 children answered incorrectly, 2 children answered incorrectly.
