Penelitian ini merupakan eksperimen semu. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah kemampuan representasi matematis siswa dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah berbeda dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD di SMA Negeri 1 Tebing Tinggi. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa SMA N 1 Tebing Tinggi yang sampelnya terdiri dari 2 kelas yaitu kelas X MIA 4 sebagai kelas eksperimen A sebanyak 31 siswa dan X MIA 5 sebagai kelas eksperimen B sebanyak 31 siswa. Kelas eksperimen A menggunakan pembelajaran berbasis masalah dan kelas eksperimen B menggunakan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah tes representasi matematis yang diberikan pada akhir pembelajaran baik di kelas eksperimen A maupun kelas eksperimen B. Jenis tes ini adalah tes uraian, sebelum dilakukan pengujian hipotesis harus dilakukan uji normalitas dan homogenitas. Hasil pengujian sampel diambil dari populasi yang berdistribusi normal dan homogen. Analisis data kelas eksperimen dengan menggunakan uji-t dengan taraf signifikansi α = 0,05 diperoleh thitung> ttabel maka H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima, maka dapat disimpulkan terdapat perbedaan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah dengan model pembelajaran koperatif tipe STAD di SMA Negeri 1 Tebing Tinggi.

 

This research is quasi-experiment. The purpose of this research is to know whether students’ mathematical representation ability by using problem based  learning model  is different with cooperative learning model STAD type in SMA Negeri 1 Tebing Tinggi The population of this research is students of  SMA N 1  Tebing Tinggi whereas the sample consists of 2 classes, namely, X MIA 4 as experimental class A consists of 31 students and X MIA 5 as experimental class B consists of 31 students. Experimental class A used Problem Based Learning and experimental class B used Cooperative Learning STAD type. Collecting data technique of this research is mathematical representation test given in the end of learning either in experimental class A or experimental class B. The type of this test is essay test. Before testing  the hypothesis, the normality and the homogeneity test should be done. The result of those tests, sample was taken from normal distributed and homogeneous population. The data analysis of experimental class by using t-test with significance level α = 0.05, it was obtained that t_calculation > t_table then H₀ is rejected and H_a is accepted.It can be concluded that students’ mathematical representation ability by using problem based learning model  is different with cooperative learning model STAD type in SMA Negeri 1 Tebing Tinggi.
